USGS Western Ecological Research Center San Francisco Bay Estuary Field Station (WERC SFBE) has over 20 years of experience pairing biological monitoring with research and management questions. WERC SFBE currently is working or has worked on numerous estuarine restorations and tidal wetlands in California, Oregon, and Washington. Most recently, they have been part of the cooperative science team monitoring restoration efforts in the Nisqually estuary, the largest estuary restoration project of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. This and other diverse projects have led to the development of a set of monitoring tools and methods presented here.
